Let me share something I find so disappointing, interesting and quite fascinating at the same time.
1)When people find out that I am a Christian full-time… and not part-time… I guess so many people fake it until they make it. I am a “firm” believer in teach one prayer at time, one day a time and genuine transparency and accountability. Not only do I coin the phrase, I am very dismayed at the non-faith belief among the so-called “Believers”.
I was a sinner saved by more than God’s grace. I know that the “Blood of Christ” takes us further than that. I don’t captivate people with fancy material possessions, nor fronting with my list of accomplishments, titles, hermeneutics and degrees. I am a Christian by not only representing with my love… but truth, character and integrity!
No, I didn’t say I was perfect… I serve excellence with the indwelling of the HOLY SPIRIT!
2) I BELONG TO A ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH…. I know that many skip reading our blog because it might seem atypical depending on perception. I can’t take it personal that many think they know what our church is all about. When you know what God has assigned you to do. You will often be persecuted with misunderstanding.
All Catholic churches are NOT the same. St. Sabina believes in…, salvation, altar calls, signs and wonders, praise and worship, and the transformation power of the HOLY SPIRIT. Hard to believe? Stop by for a visit… I know it will change your life!
In defense to St. Sabina we do have many denominations in our pews… If that is how you would prefer to categorize it. Yet I applaud my Pastor for accepting diversities that we have in our church. I also applaud him because of his boldness and courage. He takes a lot of “cheap licks” from people w ho think he makes a mockery out of the Catholic religion. If anything he kicked it up a notch or two.
If anything, he has read his bible and last time many of us read this is what we suppose to at least represent. The differences in culture but the basis is JESUS! You will be surprise at what even the Catholics fail to realize…God is love and all-knowing. It is about relationship and NEVER RELIGION.
I have seen the “err” in a lot of denominations. NO ONE HAS THE MONOPOLY ON GOD… I REPEAT… NO ONE HAS A MONOPOLY ON GOD. As it states in the bible that many fail to read with UNDERSTANDING.
GOD’S WAYS ARE NOT OUR WAYS, NOR HIS THOUGHTS OUR THOUGHTS. ( Isaiah 55:8). You want to get a basic understanding out the love of Christ. Stop lying to yourself first… All because you go to church doesn’t mean you are a representative of Christ nor are you in relationship . For some its a ritual!
A great misconception is that satan doesn’t attend church. Satan loves the church… for negative reasons for sure! Satan can do the greatest damage by getting in your lap, on your pew or in your pulpit.Yet, there is still this Pharisaic point of views when it comes to St. Sabina. I don’t play church, I must live the life I sing, preach, and teach about.
Well, I understand that all because one has a collar doesn’t necessarily mean they have a neck. Long robes and “whooping” doesn’t make you that more closer to God. If you are absent of being a true Ambassador… It’s a lot of noise and doing nothing… In other words… This is tinkling sound the Apostle Paul warned us about. ( Read I Corinthians 13 in its entirety to get clarity)
And all because you might think you are the big cheese in the gospel… You aren’t!
Oddly, for you so-called “Super Deep” but have no depth. Prophets are sent to sometimes what might appear rich in material possessions and great works… but its a spiritual Lo-debar! When God places an assignment on your life… It might not be that lovely! It’s not about you…remember that!
I belong to a Roman Catholic Church. How hypocritical can so-called “die-hard Christians” be? Believing that they have this monopoly on God and fail to love one another. I don’t worship idols… I serve a true risen Lord and Savior. Catholics might know Catholicism but do you really know God? I said it and I wont take it back!
3) My Pastor is Dr. Michael Pfleger…Yes, he is Caucasian…. Get over it! He is a white male in a predominately Afro-American setting. The church is unique not because he is a white Priest but marching the streets to bring light to injustices! He is then labeled as “unfit” to be a Catholic because he learned the truth so he follows the very bible many “claim ” to know. Yes, he is peculiar “especially” to extremists and “especially” to many Catholics. Is this not hatred and prejudices? This doesn’t paint you in great lights! This is the word of God,…Take it or leave it!
4) I am of a mixed race … I am a woman of God that has the gift of foresight. Which many don’t understand the eyesight of a prophet. I don’t run from my gift I embrace it. The most trouble I have are not just the nay sayers and doubters …But the church… I can’t self proclaim something I was born with. I am not a psychic… I was born with something that sometimes feels like a curse but its a weapon for God’s people.
Prophets(ess) are not welcome sometimes with their own. People are fascinated with the supernatural but fail miserably of knowing when the five fold ministry are together …Its a missile in the spirit realm …Yet, ignorance run a muck among Christians about it!
When people know their lane and stay in position. Too many of us get distracted on our “personal opinions and nonsense”. I have seem some hateful so-called Christians and Catholics…
Get over yourselves …God is bigger than rituals and religions. Faith is the point of contact. I am not explaining to the world… Why I love Jesus… People love to explain God. Let’s be honest… We can only attest to our limited experiences…
5) God is about “social justice in the pulpit. Our church take the streets, feed the homeless, even give our children another chance by building ” Peace Leagues” ! We have to get out of the pews, and the walls of the church to sometimes make that difference. God isn’t about laziness he is proactive! I am very open about everyone in our church might not have the Pastor’s vision but pretend to have it!
I am not going to make excuses we too have some “questionable” members. It is the quality of those who represent! We can “try” to appear so spiritually all together. But I know from being in ministry for many years, about the masks. It’s so much easier just staying true to who you are even if you believe it’s not a position that God favors! I rather that you be the truth of who you are than a hypocrite. Many claim to love God and more and more opinionated. We must practice self-control and some Godly sense.
All of us are not the same. I had to learn early its better to be true to God than advocate an form of godliness. God is a lot larger than folks perception. Truth can be stranger than fiction. I honestly believe that I should be able to go to any church without being judged. God is doing something with our church and our Pastor. If you choose to call us “strange” … Its okay!
As long as I know who I serve , what I represent, and how I respond to the critics. How can we claim to love God and fail to serve and lift one another? I don’t get it.. and I don’t try to get it. Religious folks always believe they are the chosen vessels… NOPE!!! I know that man will be surprise what heaven just might consist of. The truth will be in your face…
God doesn’t have “special sections”… and cliques! It might look one way… but step inside and God might open up your eyes to have a “better” understanding. In all thy ways get understanding!
You just might see it one way… but keep looking… We have to be more than positive thinkers… but Godly thinking will pave the way for us to get to higher ground in him! The eyes of an eagle…is so much better than the perception of the brains of a turkey!
