On Monday, around 10:30 pm…
Instantly without power… the town I lived in struggled and ill prepared! I had been without lights almost 3 days… The first day was misery… It was hot and no relief in sight. ComEd… work tirelessly trying to restore power. With a freezer full of food preparing for the holidays… this happened! This was “hell week” for darn sure for me!
I had to pray! Not quite a disaster… but major enough to “halt” my town! People had no electricity and this storm cost thousands of dollars per second! And on top not having any electricity… a water pipe burst we lost water pressure… Lord have mercy as if it couldn’t get any worse… it got worse!
Each time we were promised that the electricity would be restored . It didn’t happen!
So, …How many times do see what might seem like a minor rain storm… do the most damage? Many are now speculating that it could have possibly been a tornado! I had never experienced anything of that magnitude as an adult since a child. By the grace of God we had missed a tornado!
Recently I had been taking pictures of the sky and the beautiful clouds … but I knew dangers were hiding behind those clouds. The strange weather intrigues me… But this particular storm taught me…Right before Independence Day!
2)No matter how prepared you “think” you are… there will be a another lesson learned.
3)It pays to stay calm when you want to lose it!
4)Thinking about someone else will “relieve” your mind of only concentrating on you.
5) Its the simplest things in life that bring the greatest pleasure.
6) You will see where most people are in the worst storms of your life… many say they care,,, but you will see how much.
7)If you made it through the storm without them… God showed you, you didn’t need them!
I saw in an instant how stressful this can be for people who lose precious things in a storm. It can be a frustrating time … frightening and quite lonely. What might be important to you… you will find it might mean nothing to someone else…Until it happens to you… you might like to shrug off… a miserly rain storm .
Yet, the beauty of nature can turn deadly in an instant!
Thank God we survived the storm!
