Grammy nominated, musical genius… aka “a singer’s singer”…Who can emulate his voice and jazz riffs?…At 14 was a member of the national acclaimed ensemble Helen Stephens And The Voices Of Christ.
Music Director for Tremaine Hawkins…beginning his career with the Edwin Hawkins Family… works with the likes of one of my favorites and close friend Nancy Wilson… Quincy Jones on “Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus, jazz great Ramsey Lewis. And it was Dannielbelle Hall told him to return back to gospel music.
Pastor Daryl Coley, dies at 60 on yesterday. Made comfortable by his family as he laid in hospice in California. Nothing hurts me more to learn of so many challenges he endured these last few years!
His words rang truth about powerful about sexual promiscuity among gospel artists straight and gay. He exposed the industries under currents for pretending. He publicly admit his struggles.
Disturbed to learn about how so many gospel artist struggle financially and if they are facing hardships there is no real help.
Daryl Coley, was among the whose who and still faced so many hardship and battling diabetes. My heart is heavy because when I see such greatest and what he could have offered to pass his musical mantle. I was pleased to know that Mr. Coley…had matured in so many ways during such difficult times…
We send our best and prayers to his wife and three children, and to all who adored and love Darly!
I will miss you the most!!
May he rest in peace!!!!
